Mikis Costa
Mikis Costa studied in London where he qualified as a certified accountant with Moore Stephens UK. He is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the United Kingdom (FCCA), a fellow member of the Association of International Accountants of the United Kingdom (FAIA), a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner.
On his return to Cyprus he joined the office of the Auditor General of the Republic of Cyprus as a Principal Auditor. During his tenure he was responsible for the audit of ministries, municipalities and semi-governmental organizations. He also gained experience in the audit of large government projects.
In 1980 he started his own practice and ended up as managing partner of Alpha Audit Limited, a firm of practicing accountants. During his career with Alpha Audit he served as the senior partner of the tax and legal division. He has gained in-depth knowledge in cross border transactions, international tax planning and structuring, delivering market-leading world class professional services aligned with the changing needs of clients and global markets. He has also served as the partner in charge of the management and consulting services division, developing its strategic advisory role focusing on helping clients run a better business, improve their personal financial situation or assess the risks involved in change.
In 2016 he left Alpha Audit Limited and now holds the post of chairman of the board of directors of Calmco Limited. He is in charge of corporate support from the stage of incorporation to liquidation, advising also on the best structure to be adopted to suit clients’ business.
He holds various appointments in business organizations, both locally and internationally.
